The hands-on workshop will be led by textile conservators Masumi Kataoka, Imperial Household Agency, Office of the Shosoin Treasure House, Japan, and Vanessa Brey, private conservator, Australia. The workshop will focus on gels and experimental applications in cleaning and humidification for textile conservation treatments. Participants in the workshop are invited to attend Mathew Cushman’s online lecture Principles of Aqueous Chemistry for the Cleaning of Painted Surfaces on 14 May, separately hosted by International Academic Project (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/principles-of-aqueous-chemistry-for-the-cleaning-of-painted-surfaces-tickets-1316104326469?aff=oddtdtcreator).
No funding or bursaries are available for the online lecture or workshop. Participants are requested to make their own travel arrangements.
